Here my wife and I are coming back from a road trip to big bear. WE were bored so of course we turned to the simple joys of lip syncing.
How Much Weight Should I Place on My Social Network Marketing?
Even my Grandmother who is 90 yrs old has a facebook account. What does that tell you? Everyone has caught on…everyone.
Now the only question is how much should I rely on social networking?
If anyone ever tells you that all you need is a facebook account and a link to an affiliate product to get paid, well that person is sending you down a very narrow path that will eventually take more then a machete to traverse through.
Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, YouTube and several others should have one purpose for any business.
That is to move prospective business contacts away from the social networking sites and into the security of ones own website and marketing campaign.
Social Networking sites are great, however let’s say you had a facebook account that suddenly was canceled without notice. The hope is that you would have taken the 5000 friends that you had collected over the past 2 years and saved them into an excel spreadsheet. Otherwise they would have been lost forever.
Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and YouTube have been around less then 7 yrs. There might be other sites that become more popular in the years to come. To Guarantee a long lasting online business model to work, make sure you are doing what you need to do to properly protecting yourself.
By this I mean, make sure you are saving those videos that you are posting on YouTube and Facebook. Save your contacts from Facebook by exporting them onto a CSV file, or to Yahoo. Keep an eye on who you are connected with on all of your social media sites and streamline them. Remember, you may have people spread out from YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, ning, and more who are just out there on all of those sites. Get them streamlined.
What do I mean by streamlined?
I mean, get a list of all of your contacts on all social platforms and discover who is connecting with you on all of them. For Instance, my friend Chris Farrell, is friends with me on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Linkedin. Give those people who are following you across all social media platforms a greater priority. Then attempt to get those who are say only following you on Facebook, a call to action to go “check you out” on YouTube.

By doing this you can answer the question-Who are the people that are truly interested in me and why?
So not only do you need to save and protect your contacts, you should also protect your CONTENT. That being pictures, written articles, video that you want to save.
I will actually have my videos parked at several different Video Hosting Sites.
I also personally use Amazon S3 to host my videos for my site. It is a storage area for whatever data you want to protect. I use it in association with EZS3 . So just in case something happens to that same video on YouTube, I have it backed up.
EZS3 is a site that works with Amazons S3 storage so that you can upload all of your videos and EZS3 will create video players for you and a ton of really cool stuff.
It is definitely important to put an emphasis on Social Media Marketing, just remember that it is also good to create your own social network that you can control. Namely your website and your list.

How to Create a Successful Internet Business?
What defines a successful Internet Business?
To combat the very real exposure to frustration and anxiety that you are going to experience on your journey, Mindset, as you have probably been told, holds the highest stock.
Success from that moment is allowing yourself to LEARN.
My Brother and his Wife have a brand new baby, 2 days old. I am currently at their house and witnessing as they learn to adapt to this life.

Along the way, because it is so new, they are going to have fear and frustration. Which is expected.
They of course understand that they must adapt, they must learn. And the wonderful thing is that, they never stop learning.
Your journey down the path of internet marketing is going to faced with many “HUH’s??” and “ AHHHHHHH’s”. I have gone through many trials and errors and am still going through them. Much of how we discover success is how we deal with failure.
“Fail Good.” Ever heard that?
Don’t be ashamed of mistakes. I personally make mistakes every day.
But I also have a short term memory issue, so by the morning I forget the mistakes or frustrations I had the day before. I just keep shooting those arrows even after missing 100 times.  It’s a blessing and a curse.
Learn from your screw ups and just keep pushing forward. You are never going to get everything perfect.
The best thing you can do for yourself is not limit your scope of your success, don’t see the failure, see the big  goal. And just understand that you are going to come across what you may perceive as failure on your journey, but the truth is, that without the failure, success doesn’t taste as good.
Well, my Brother and Sister-in-Law are doing great. The baby has already pooped on the carpet and the couch.
Diana and I just learned about our Sponsored Child from the SOS Children’s Villages.
The Information came in the mail today. The pamphlet was dated for my Birthday, July 15. It was an amazing gift to get. Because as cliche as it sounds, giving feels so much better then getting.
Our Sponsored Child is Samuel and he is 8. Super cute kid. We were already talking about sending coloring books and stickers and pictures of our pet rabbit Chester and our cat Carl.
Here is a little bit about SOS Children’s Village.
____________________________________________________
Children who have been abandoned or orphaned come to SOS Children’s Villages where they are integrated into a loving family environment.  They are nurtured and supported by an SOS Mother and up to 15 other children in their SOS home who become their SOS brothers and sisters. Strong bonds develop within these “SOS families”, and even after the children are grown and leave the village, these family relationships endure.
While growing up, SOS children have the benefit of a stable, loving family environment that includes the necessities of life such as clothing, meals, medical care and a high-quality education. Children remain in their SOS home within an SOS Village until they are prepared to create lives for themselves as independent adults.
SOS Villages do not operate independently of their environment. Each SOS Village is a role model for the community in terms of quality care-giving, education, and health care and aims to be fully integrated into the larger community - not isolated from it. At SOS, we embrace and respect the local culture, wherever we operate, with the exception of situations that might violate human rights.

What is amazing about it is that, we can visit him at some point with a month in advance, and be as much a part of his life as we would want. It boggles the mind that you can only pay 30 dollars a month and have such a changing impact on a child’s life. Anyway, before I begin to sound too much like Suzanne Struthers, you can click below for more information. Cheers!
The World Cup Finale 2010. Stop the Dreaded Vuvuzela!
If you though that “We’re Number 1 Finger”, “Beer-Hats”, Â and “HotDog Heads” were enough, you were wrong!
The
very popular Vuvuzela, or Stadium Horn from Brazil is making a sonic boom into our culture.
It’s the horns vs the hefts.  Imagine the Middle aged fat guy flapping food out of his mouth at a Dodger game cursing at the Umpire, which is typical of the “Baseball Game Experience”, now having to compete with a 3 foot long bull horn that blows a distinct Bâ™3.  The same pitch of a Chainsaw, a hive of giant bees and a fleet of 747’s.
Fun times ahead for our future sport traditions. Â However part of me will welcome it as it drowns out the sound of drunken fans and stupid rivalry.
Imagine though it becoming allies with the unruly fan. Â A scary sight to be sure, as the Overweight Hotdog consumer blows from the horn between bites; I cringe just a little.
How to Properly Tag a YouTube Video
I have created a video where I show you how to Properly tag a YouTube video. Tagging a video on YouTube is similar to tagging a video on any of the major video sharing sites. Â Sites such as Viddler, Meta-cafe, Vimeo, Daily Motion, and Tubemogul all work within the same perimeters of tagging, description, and title.
In this video I will show you how to set up your title, description and tags, and also reveal a common misperception in tagging. Â Plus I am going to show you what actions carry the most weight with the search engines.
Letting Go…
Every now and then I read a status update on Facebook that really moves me. I’m not sure if I need to be in the mood to be moved or if there is a special magic that happens when I’m reading updates. But for some reason, a post made today really moved me and I felt an urgent need to DO SOMETHING. I had an epiphany.
The post was made by Jeff Combs, a wildly successful coach, mentor and business man. I have a special relationship with Jeff (although he doesn’t know it) because I listen to his CD’s every day and with each word spoken, I feel as though he is speaking to ME! If you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to him, make it a priority to get to his site a buy a product or two….so back to what moved me :).
This is what the post written by Jeffery Combs said:
Procrastination tip of the day. Find one simple task in your business or life and do it. Sounds simple and it is. Pick up the phone, call leads, exercise, clean off your desk, clean out a corner of the garage. Get a 33 gallon garbage bag and throw everything away today you possibly can. Let Go.
This REALLY got me thinking about what types of things I had been putting off. I pondered this for several minutes and the one thing that kept coming back into my thoughts were the 8 plastic bins of my daughter’s clothes that were taking up so much space in our garage. I’m not just talking about her favorite clothes that I decided to keep, but EVERY stitch of clothing that my daughter (who is 3) has ever had. All folded and being stored.
This may not sound like a big deal…they are neatly stacked in the garage, not taking up too much room. Now you may be thinking that the reason I am keeping these clothes is because I don’t want to let go of them for sentimental purposes. That would be the obvious reason right?
Well….here is the truth:
When my daughter was born, we knew that we wanted to have another child. We didn’t know when that was going to be, but we knew that we wanted another. We were SO BROKE when my daughter was born that I didn’t know if we would be able to buy a whole new wardrobe for another child. So, putting the outgrown clothes in bins and saving them for the next child became a sort of habit for me.
After reading Jeffery Combs post today, I realized something VERY important and quite possibly life changing.

I AM EXPECTING TO BE BROKE.
I thought I was being smart by saving these clothes because who knows what our financial situation will be when we have another child so I want to MAKE SURE that we have clothes. But what I didn’t realize is that my thoughts will become my reality. THINK ABOUT THIS! What we think is who we are, therefore, if I think I will be broke, then I will be.
Our mind is a powerful thing. But the good news is that we can control our thoughts and therefore, we can control our destiny.
So my question to you is this:
What thoughts do you have that are holding you back?
What in your life do you need to LET GO OF?
Think about these questions and then MOST importantly, ACT on the them. I have these clothes listed on Craigslist right now…..because I WILL buy new clothes when we have another child. Mind over matter.
To Your Success.

Codex Helps to summarize Blogging-Learn the power of Trackbacks and Pingbacks
Codex gives us a wonderful definition of Trackbacks and Pingbacks.
Trackbacks
Trackbacks were originally developed by SixApart, creators of the MovableType blog package. SixApart has a good introduction to trackbacks:
In a nutshell, TrackBack was designed to provide a method of notification between websites: it is a method of person A saying to person B, “This is something you may be interested in.” To do that, person A sends a TrackBack ping to person B.
A better explanation is this:
- Person A writes something on their blog.
- Person B wants to comment on Person A’s blog, but wants her own readers to see what she had to say, and be able to comment on her own blog
- Person B posts on her own blog and sends a trackback to Person A’s blog
- Person A’s blog receives the trackback, and displays it as a comment to the original post. This comment contains a link to Person B’s post
The idea here is that more people are introduced to the conversation (both Person A’s and Person B’s readers can follow links to the other’s post), and that there is a level of authenticity to the trackback comments because they originated from another weblog. Unfortunately, there is no actual verification performed on the incoming trackback, and indeed they can even be faked.
Most trackbacks send to Person A only a small portion (called an “excerpt”) of what Person B had to say. This is meant to act as a “teaser”, letting Person A (and his readers) see some of what Person B had to say, and encouraging them all to click over to Person B’s site to read the rest (and possibly comment).

Person B’s trackback to Person A’s blog generally gets posted along with all the comments. This means that Person A can edit the contents of the trackback on his own server, which means that the whole idea of “authenticity” isn’t really solved. (Note: Person A can only edit the contents of the trackback on his own site. He cannot edit the post on Person B’s site that sent the trackback.)
SixApart has published an official trackback specification.
Pingbacks
Pingbacks were designed to solve some of the problems that people saw with trackbacks. The official pingback documentationmakes pingbacks sound an awful lot like trackbacks:
For example, Yvonne writes an interesting article on her Web log. Kathleen reads Yvonne’s article and comments about it, linking back to Yvonne’s original post. Using pingback, Kathleen’s software can automatically notify Yvonne that her post has been linked to, and Yvonne’s software can then include this information on her site.
There are three significant differences between pingbacks and trackbacks, though.
- Pingbacks and trackbacks use drastically different communication technologies (XML-RPC and HTTP POST, respectively).
- Pingbacks do not send any content.
The best way to think about pingbacks is as remote comments:
- Person A posts something on his blog.
- Person B posts on her own blog, linking to Person A’s post. This automatically sends a pingback to Person A when both have pingback enabled blogs.
- Person A’s blog receives the pingback, then automatically goes to Person B’s post to confirm that the pingback did, in fact, originate there.
The pingback is generally displayed on Person A’s blog as simply a link to Person B’s post. In this way, all editorial control over posts rests exclusively with the individual authors (unlike the trackback excerpt, which can be edited by the trackback recipient). The automatic verification process introduces a level of authenticity, making it harder to fake a pingback.
Some feel that trackbacks are superior because readers of Person A’s blog can at least see some of what Person B has to say, and then decide if they want to read more (and therefore click over to Person B’s blog). Others feel that pingbacks are superior because they create a verifiable connection between posts.
Verifying Pingbacks and Trackbacks
Comments on blogs are often criticized as lacking authority, since anyone can post anything using any name they like: there’s no verification process to ensure that the person is who they claim to be. Trackbacks and Pingbacks both aim to provide some verification to blog commenting.
